Fortress Internship

I am a senior at a top undergrad and just got an offer for a summer analyst at Fortress (they said they won't hire full time without experience.) I haven't gotten a decent full time offer but am still waiting. My Question is, assuming I get a decent full time offer, will they allow me to start in August, after the internship. Or will they force me to start in June right after I graduate. Thanks for the help.

no, they don't. at least, not for analysts. they generally want you to do banking or something for a couple of years first. the only return offer i ever heard of was for someone who worked for the summer then roughly the next full year, and ultimately they even said they'd prefer him to work somewhere else first and then come back. so, no.

Remember, once you're inside you're on your own. Oh, you mean I can't count on you? No. Good!

no worries. that having been said, it is a GREAT name to have on your resume, and the credit funds are 1) doing very well as far as i know and 2) is a small team that will allow you to get your hands dirty.

do you have an offer from them? without knowing about your other offers, i would seriously advise you accept it. you won't have a problem interviewing FT next year if you do because of it. that being said, there is certainly something to be said for not having to go through FT recruitment by landing an offer, so if that's a possibility, consider it as well i guess.

Dude you're the man thanks for info.

I actually received an offer earlier in the year but for personal reasons I could not intern with them. I am now in the running for the summer and am weighing my options. I have 4 other interviews (4 S&T BB and 1 BR) as well but I spoke to someone there at Fortress and it seems like this will be an offer. I would love to have a FT offer from my SA internship and not have to go through FT recruiting which is why I am asking this question but I do understand that it is a great name to have. I do also attend a non-target with weak OCR so I do not want to go through the interview landing process again as it severely fucked up my grades this semester (sent over 1000 emails just to land 6 interviews).

Hey man, Fortress does wonders to a person's resume and it is a great selling point in interviews; however, it is tough if you go to a non-target with a weak OCR, since firms usually convert their SA to FT. I would suggest, if you receive a FO BB offer, to take that instead for the FT potential. PM if you have other Qs (i am knowledgeable of the summer internship program at Fortress)

thanks for the clarity - I would take MS over Fortress but Fortress over UBS. Do you have a strong network at the moment that can vouch for you for FT recruiting? And what are your short - term goals? Credit Investments? S&T? etc.

There was another thread - some kid turned down top BB IBD SA for Apollo PE SA. Ended up regretting it and was having problems getting a FT after the SA PE position.

Furthermore, what is BR? lol

blackrock lol my bad thought that's what people called it on here. network is fine, just the non-target thing i got going makes some people reluctant to help, especially when it gets into HR's hands (got turned down for an interview with CS even after having 3 mds forward my application to them). but i do live and go to school in NYC and most of my schools alumni are in NYC with a strong presence on the street so the network is decent. short term goals can be anything really, anywhere that I can get a shot I am fine with, whether it be banking or S&T. I have done both at the boutique level and enjoyed both equally. i have been prepping hard for interviews so just ready to get this shit in the bag but really trying to figure out how I should play it for this summer, especially with the downsizing and all.
