Freshman path to FT PE

Curious to get more opinions on these options so far. I will be interning on the deal team at a PE shop w/ a multi-billion recent raise for freshman summer & interning at a solid BB in IBD for sophomore summer. If UMM/MF buy-side is my eventual goal - is there a clear-cut best path?

  1. re-recruiting in IBD & do FT IBD stint

  2. try and return to the PE firm I will be working at this summer

  3. recruit for summer analyst MF positions, hoping for a return offer & possibly have to re-recruit for FT

Yes, target & non-racial diversity but still diversity. From your perspective, would junior summer PE instead of IBD make it more difficult to recruit for FT elite boutiques?

Do you happen to know the general FT offer % for those PE summer analyst spots?

Do you also know if these MF PEs for analysts are 2 and out usually? Or is there actually a path to senior levels at BX,KKR, etc? I’ve assumed the former but curious abt ur thoughts
