From Consulting to PE (London UK) - worth the jump?

Hi Londoners,

Currently in the PE group in consulting primarily doing CDD work. Interested in doing PE but don't know if the jump is worth it - e.g. far longer hours, weekend work for better pay but quicker burnout vs steadily climbing the consulting ladder.

I don't know enough about the lifestyle as a lot posts in this forum are US centric. Can somebody, particularly ex consultants, shed light on what it's really like to be working in PE in London?

it varies by firm & by size- are you thinking of joining a MF, UMM, or MM fund?
