Fund closing 8 months into my time there vol: what next

So my fund is closing it's doors (merging our ops and portfolio with anther group) on our office 8 months into me getting hired.

We're part of a much larger investment management group. I think they thrust my MD in charge a little too early, because she ran us into the ground.

Either way, I'm 8 months in and will be out of a job soon.

Here's where it gets tricky:

  1. No IB. I came into this role from a corp finance spot. I was either super cheap labor or beat out the competition. Either way, I have a very untraditional path

  2. I planned on attending b school. I'm wondering how it will be received during recruiting for post MBA roles when they see my only PE experience was 8 months at a well known fund.

Any suggestions on some options?

Would I be able to scramble to get anther role?

I feel kind of wrong going somewhere in October where I know I'll only be there u til July 2016.

How do I explian this in interviews?

I have about a month and a half left at my current gig, and they said they'd give us severance through the end of the year.

No bonus, though. Smh

So, any advice would be much appreciated
