Future entry to PE from IB/ER/Cons?
My first post so please forgive my ignorance.
I've been searching for a while here and on other banking/finance forums.
I'm graduating from a top tier b-school next year and would like to get into PE eventually (would prefer sooner than later, but with no prior experience or connections, it will have to be later.)
Which path would be the most recommended to open an opportunity to get into PE (assuming i'm building a good rep/name for myself over a 5-7 year period in either scenario)? - starting as IB Associate - starting as an ER Analyst - getting into a major consulting firm's M&A (or similar) group (i have consulting experience) *i'd of course focus on PE shops in the same industry/group as my IB or ER experience
Or, after 7 years, does the upside potential in either scenario (PE/IB/ER/Cons) start to slightly converge?
