GPA for on-cycle recruiting
I am going to be gradating this spring from a target school with a double major with STEM. Heading to a top NYC group (GS TMT/MS M&A/PJT RSSG). I let my gpa drop after recruiting, and it currently rounds up to a 3.9. I could get it up to a flat 3.90+, but it would be difficult and time-consuming, and not something I want to spend my final semesters in college doing. Is there any marginal difference at all for on-cycle, targeting MF PE? Appreciate any advice.
rounded 1 decimal is fine: don't kill yourself between a 3.86 and 3.94
At a MF when we screen resumes anything above a 3.70+ (not rounded) is sort of the same in our eyes.
That is to say it is more of a check-in-the-box type of item. Of course, having a higher GPA can't hurt but I wouldn't kill yourself over it.
Still true?
The fact that I was 50% convinced this is a troll post should be your answer.

You are fine, the 3.9 is more than enough. even unrounded that is fine for oncycle.
How about a 3.8 rounded
Bump
Honestly, a 3.9 vs a true 3.90+ will not move the needle for on-cycle with that group and a target background. Most shops treat anything north of the usual cutoff often ~3.7 as a checkthe box item, so I would not burn your last semesters chasing hundredths.
