What exit opps? It´s an internship.
I would go with Cinven. They are quite active currently and involved in a lot of situations. They are currently raising a new fund and had great returns over the last years.
Depends on the fund, but GS does a lot of side investments.

The GS PIA in London are quite impressive and from my experience they often partner with many of the MFs. That being said, you will get great experience at Cinven and will open many doors for FT roles.
But you don't consider GS PIA as a MF? What about Cinven ? Is it a MF?
Quite confused why you guys are telling him to go to Cinven in a 3rd tier city when he has GS PIA which does recruit analysts.
PIA is a much bigger name than Cinven too.
In my opinion side investments are quite boring. You attend weekly company meetings, do a lot of DD and negotiation, but your influence is rather small.
Cannot speak for Cinven in Madrid, but for a different satellite office, you get a lot of experience and normally you are allowed to attend a lot of meeting, visit, expert calls etc. Why should PIA have a better brand than Cinven here in Europe? Cinven is one of the very successful funds, with interesting portfolio companies and bids constantly against the US MFs.
GS PIA hat current side investments in Advent, Warburg, PAI Partners and Silver Lake (the ones I know). The big advantage is, that you can start FT afterwords and that the switch to one of the mentioned above is quite easy.

No Problem, Cinven is one of the upper mid cap/lower large cap funds and as far as I see it, bids constantly against Apax, Permira, PAI Partners, BX, Advent and the like,...
