How did you do it? Nervous for transition

I was able to get an offer in a sweatshop-ish PE firm but I'm coming from what some would consider to be a lifestyle group, I don't really work weekends too much, I leave the office around 8 PM, things aren't super intense, usually just average out 60 hours a week most of the time. This new place will see me doing 80 to 100, how do I prepare myself mentally for the transition? I'm quite nervous about it

I had the same fear. There is no way to prepare yourself mentally. Just know, going in, it will be worse than you can imagine. But don’t lose sight of the fact that it will be over in two years. The time flies. You might have periods where you think you can’t make it but print out this comment just to remind yourself when you get to the end of the two years and look back, time will have flown by. I learned so much and I’m glad I did it and I think others are two but it probably was the worst two years of my life. So, I mean, you probably are as fucked as you think you are, but my point is, don’t fret about it now, and you’ll be fine in the long run. As long as you can take stock that the fact that it sucks and is worse than you can imagine is normal, you’ll be able to mentally keep your head above water. As soon as you lose sight of that and can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, that’s when people fizzle out and quit.

Why/how does it get better after 2 years? Is it just the two associate years that are super hard and then that's it? Could you elaborate more? I've done an 80 hour week before and did not think it was too bad, for what it's worth, would you say it helps that I find the work that I'm doing really interesting? What's the toughest part of getting through it, in your view?

This is hilarious.

While a wall street job is not the military, imagine what would someone in basic training right now say about your situation? You are afraid to sit in a warm room, all the amenities available to you, while getting paid significantly higher than your worldly and domestic peers, and you are bitching about how -- let's just be straight -- you are afraid how hard you will have to work.

Son, what the fuck is wrong with you? You have completely lost perspective on life by the very fact you thought about it and then made this post.
