How do Senior Bankers help junior bankers exit?

So I’m a first year analyst at my bank and a couple of MDs and VPs have openly talked about the solid good PE/VC Placement from our group. A couple of the seniors on separate occasions have gone as far as saying let them know if you want to go to the buyside.

So at most banks where buyside recruiting isn’t frowned upon, what’s the best way to leverage the help of the seniors for recruiting. Is it smart to tell an MD/VP upfront and say you want to leave for the buyside and tell them what firms you’d be interested in or let them know what firms you have interviews with during oncycle after HH outreach?

Looking for advice on the best approach
