How soon can I lateral again?

I lateraled from a UMM fund to a LMM fund about 6 months ago at the SA level. I’m doing well and have already closed two deals but dislike the culture and city and can’t see myself here long term. Is it a bad look to start putting out feelers with recruiters?

I think you can do it now with the expectation that you’ll commit at least 2-3 years at your next firm.

You need a good story around 1) why you moved UMM to LMM, and 2) why it makes sense to move again now.

Other considerations are how long you’ve been a senior associate to justify holding your title as well as evidence of strong performance reviews. You can bump your title up by moving downmarket, or keep/downgrade your title by moving upmarket but typically not both.
