How to approach the PE investment case?

I have a PE interview coming up and am wondering how best to approach an investment case. There are a lot of resources out there, but most of it seems a little unstructured to me. How did you guys approach the question "is this a good investment"? Did you identify categories (market, competitive landscape, etc.) and went through each category based on a framework like Porter's Five Forces? Any help is much appreciated!
