How to prep PE Recruiting from consulting?

Currently going to a upper T2 DD shop, interested in trying to recruit for MM and UMM PE from there. What sort of stuff should I be doing to be prepped for that? Chatting associates while I'm still a student? Learning technicals in advance so I don't do it while I'm at the desk?
