How useful is Big 4 infra advisory for moving into IB/PE?

I have 2 years of infra experience but I don't think my profile is good enough for IB/PE yet. Is Big 4 infra advisory a good springboard into IB/PE? What are my alternatives?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it seems that having a background in infrastructure advisory could be beneficial when trying to move into Infrastructure PE & IBD. The core skill sets have some overlap, and the experience you've gained in the infrastructure sector could be seen as valuable. However, it's important to note that many PE funds prefer applicants with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience, as these funds are often leanly staffed and require employees who can hold their own upon joining.

As for alternatives, networking within the space could be a good strategy. Infrastructure generally recruits on an as-needed basis, so there's no need to feel pressured to recruit. It's also a great time to learn what you want to do and where you want to do it.

Remember, no one thinks poorly of anyone for wanting to try something different. It's all about finding the right fit for you. Keep swinging from those branches, and you'll find the right one eventually!
