I recently was contacted by a private equity fund that invests In Micro finance projects in developing markets. While I think this is a really interesting niche of PE, having work with several micro finance institutions and starting one in college, I know they get stellar returns if run well (I started a nonprofit one, so no returns on my end). I was particularly wondering how the comp is at these firms, as ive heard different types of PE pay less than normal vanilla PE (ie real estate).
Does anyone have any experience In this niche. Just wondering as it hasn't been documented here yet, and I couldn't find info online. Figured some other monkeys who didn't loose their soul yet might be interested ton know.
