I will be getting my bonus at my current bank paid out in July but I also got selected in the H1B lottery this year so that process finalizes in October.

I think they want me to start ASAP. How do you best tackle this? They haven't talked start date just yet. In particular, I do want the bonus but the H1B stuff I'm okay with missing out on.

^^ yea if anything I’d be willing to forgo the bonus but not H1-B

A July start date (early) would likely be fine if you offer it, but October is a very very long time and might get your offer pulled. Also, isn't H1B specific to your employer and wouldn't transfer to a new place?

Either way, if you leave before your bonus they either buy it out and you start immediately, or they let you stay. Guessing this close to bonus they will just tell you to stay, but definitely do not sign anything where you forgo your bonus with nothing paid out.
