IB associate to PE recruiting
Hi - how does lateral IB associates to PE (associate/senior associate) recruiting work? Should one reach out to headhunters/PE firms directly? Any clarity would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I did this and went from a lower tier bank as a post MBA associate to a LMM PE firm as an associate.
I reached out to all the headhunters directly but didn’t have much success that way. I found better success by reaching out to my bank and school alumni directly (VPs and associates). Took a ton of rejection but got there eventually with a couple off cycle offers.
How have you liked it so far and how much of a pay cut did you take?
I think the work is a lot more interesting, but the hours are much worse than banking.
I took a big pay cut in cash but got a small carry allocation. It looks like the carry allocation is going to pan out and make me even with what staying for VP in banking would have paid, but you never know.
What’s your schedule like in a normal week?
