Industrials Group, Interested in GE

Currently in my first year in an industrials group but have realized that I would like to move to GE (not buyout as I initially thought) after my two years. I know that tech and consumer tend to be the feeders into GE. Should I try and change groups internally or externally, or will I still get shots on goal with GE firms regardless of current industry coverage?

I work in growth equity and I've literally never heard the term "GE" used by anyone when referring to the industry.

I was friends with the IB industrials analyst who worked on the General Electric coverage team though, and his life was absolutely miserable. He was only staffed on that one company and it took up enormous amounts of time.

nah you're right, i tend to get lazy, abbreviate everything, and just assume everyone knows what i mean

Show me the incentive and I'll show you the outcome.
