Industrials Group, Interested in GE
Currently in my first year in an industrials group but have realized that I would like to move to GE (not buyout as I initially thought) after my two years. I know that tech and consumer tend to be the feeders into GE. Should I try and change groups internally or externally, or will I still get shots on goal with GE firms regardless of current industry coverage?
If you’re at a good bank and can demonstrate interest in the space during interviews it shouldn’t matter. Maybe try and get some industrial tech staffings if they’re allocated to your group
what’s “GE” in this context? I initially thought you meant the actual GE
growth equity
yeah I don’t think GE is a hugely used term outside of meaning General Electric. I came to this thread for some interesting conversation about why someone would love to go join GE hahaha.
I work in growth equity and I've literally never heard the term "GE" used by anyone when referring to the industry.
I was friends with the IB industrials analyst who worked on the General Electric coverage team though, and his life was absolutely miserable. He was only staffed on that one company and it took up enormous amounts of time.
nah you're right, i tend to get lazy, abbreviate everything, and just assume everyone knows what i mean
ahaha yeah thats totally my bad
yea super passionate about dying conglomerates haha
