Infra PE Resources

Does anyone have recommendations for Infra PE resources? I have seen the Brookfield reports, but looking for additional stuff to prepare for PE SA recruiting. Any info on interviews at KKR/BX/Blackrock/ISQ Infra would also be great. Thanks!

For preparing for Infrastructure Private Equity (Infra PE) roles, here are some recommendations based on the most helpful WSO content:

Resources for Infra PE Preparation

  1. Research Reports:

    • Read research reports from investment banks on 2-3 key sectors within infrastructure. These reports are crucial for understanding trends and sector-specific insights, which are often discussed in interviews.
  2. Modeling Preparation:

    • Focus on infrastructure-specific modeling. Candidates from traditional IB backgrounds often struggle with differences in infra modeling, such as debt facilities and refinancing. Practice these areas to avoid being caught off guard.
  3. Case Studies:

    • Prepare for case studies, as they are a significant part of Infra PE interviews. These often test your ability to evaluate infrastructure assets and understand the nuances of long-term investments.
  4. Online Threads and Guides:

  5. Networking:

    • Reach out to headhunters (HHs) with a clear story about why you are interested in Infra PE and your firm preferences. Networking is critical, as Infra PE often recruits on an as-needed basis.
  6. Books and Learning Materials:

    • While specific books aren't mentioned, brushing up on valuation and project finance concepts is essential. Look for materials that cover infrastructure-specific financial modeling and deal structuring.

Interview Insights for Firms like KKR, Blackstone, BlackRock, and ISQ

  • Why Infra?: Be prepared to articulate your interest in infrastructure and how it aligns with your career goals. Highlight any relevant experience or passion for the sector.
  • Sector Trends: Expect questions about trends in the infrastructure space and which sectors you would invest in. Research areas like renewable energy, transportation, and social infrastructure.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in modeling and understanding of infrastructure-specific financial structures.
  • Cultural Fit: Many firms emphasize culture, so ensure your story reflects why joining their fund is the right fit for you.

By leveraging these resources and focusing on the key areas mentioned, you'll be well-prepared for Infra PE recruiting and interviews. Good luck!
