Intermediaries between founders and investors?
In the country where I am from, there are people/firms working as intermediaries between founders and investors (PE, VC funds, strategic buyers etc.)
They exist, as although the founders could raise money themselves, they usually have very limited time, and can benefit from the intermediary companies' connections and fundraising experiences. The funds can benefit as they receive leads from the intermediaries. The intermediaries charge based on the funds raised.
However, I think such firms are rare in the USA? Or they are just part of the investment banks? Do private equity firms usually get leads from M&A bankers? From what I see, VCs usually don't rely on intermediaries but just in-house deal origination?
Which country are you from? What makes you think this is rare in the US?
