Is it a smart move to do my last internship in PE - Funds of Funds in New York ?

Dear all,

I'm a French student (having U.S Citizenship) doing actually my second 6months internship in France. First one was Financial auditor in a big 4, actually I'm in IB in one of the top 3 French banks in Paris.

Well I have this opportunity to have an interview in a week for a TOP PE firm in NY, but in Funds of Funds team. Ideally, I would prefer to go in Buy-Out but it's too early for that (off-cycle internship starting in May 2023) so it's kind of my first process so I don't want to rush heavily.

My dream is to start my career in the U.S but probably in IB, but I want to experience PE too and I really want to do an internship in the U.S.

My question is: do you think an internship in PE-Funds of Funds is worth for my career path ? Can I go in IB then or my CV isn't going to make sense for IB ? Or should I try to find an IB internship in U.S/London and then try my move to the U.S ?

Many thanks,
