Is MBB Junior Year Intern to PE FT Analyst Possible?

As title suggests, does such a transition from a junior year internship at a strong MBB office coming from a target school to a PE analyst position exist?

Curious what the process entails. I have seen, granted they have been few, successful examples of such a move (Bain & Co. to Bain Cap, e.g). So it's possible, definitely stronger likelihood from an IB summer, but would value perspective, feasibility, and firms that accept. Thanks!
