Lateral networking etiquette

I’ve seen a lot of conflicting info on this one. Do I attach my resume in the initial cold outreach?

Should I briefly reference my background e.g., Goldman Fargo TMT followed by Blackstone & Friedman, or attach the resume and leave it at that?

Obviously I want to avoid sounding overly transactional, but I also don’t want the email to be overlooked because there’s no resume attached.

This is for Senior Associate level.
