LMM PE analyst experience
How do LMM PE analyst programs compare to IB analyst programs? Fund is new ($200-500m), people are smart with strong backgrounds, culture is very good, really liked everyone, great WLB, comp better than expected.
My main concern is with exits down the line -- my sense is that VP promote is unlikely, so I'd have to think about recruiting / MBA after associate. Not sure what kinds of looks I'd get with this on my resume vs mid BB/EB IB, even though I think the LMM learning experience would be really strong. Also not sure about my odds of a good business school, since I'd be competing with the BX/KKR/etc crowd. Anyone been in a similar spot?
in the same situation. would love to hear an inside perspective
IB will be far superior in terms of training, experience, and exit opportunities compared to a LMM analyst position. The only time I’d consider PE over IB out of the gate would be for an UMM or MF with an established training program.
