London MM Private Equity Comp
Have been offered an associate role at a top MM PE shop in London, been told to expect total comp of £160k and carry once I reach VP. Seems slightly low to me, is this in line with market and how should I expect pay to progress?
There was a post with comprehensive data on London MM comp. £160k total seems quite standard for associates with £180 to be the higher end.
Yes, would say £160k (assuming £80-90k base, with ~80-100% bonus, no carry) seems very market for London based MM. In general, you should expect a discount to BB/EB associate total comps for MM, with the exception for some UMM funds
£160k as VP is definitely underpaid. What is the associate offer even?
I think OP meant £160k for associate, and carry from VP above (which seems very market to me)
Yeah that makes more sense now that you say. I think £160 is okay but large cap land has definitely moved on pretty much across the street so it seems the pay disparity is growing

This is correct. Some funds may offer a little bit of carry at Associate level - but usually at the cost of a lower bonus (so say ~£140k all in but maybe 50 bps of carry).
