MBA Asso break into buyside

Say you don't have any specific industry background( phd in healthcare, engineering in tech, etc). What are the ways for MBA Asso to break into buyside? What group is easier? Currently working in new York, but Is it switching to regional bankings/industry like in Houston increase the chance?Anything helps to break into buyside really appreciate. Either Switch group, or location? Really really want to break into buyside but it's really hard as mba Asso. Need career advise. Tired of sellside. Thank you so much.

Buyside meaning decent fund, either PE, VC or any kind of alternative investing (Rx, secondaries). In general, as far as I know they only like to take analyst, or to the other extreme, senior bankers. MBA Asso really hard to break into buyside so would love to learn your successful experience or any advise. Just tired of sellside
