MM PE (Firms and Headhunters)
Hi everyone,
I have 5+ years experience at an upper middle market PE firm and am now looking to transition to a MM PE firm with an eventual path to partner. Does anyone know of any useful databases or other resources that have a list of all of the MM PE firms out there and perhaps the headhunters that focus in the middle market space?
Thank you
Depends. How do you define UMM and MM? Whats the recent fund size ranges
I was at a fund that was $5bn+
Now looking for something smaller (maybe in the $1-$3bn range where path to partner is possible -> I also acknowledge that getting to partner is probably easier at the sub $1bn range so willing to go there too)
Unrelated to your original Q, but curious - do $5b+ funds look down on $1-$3bn funds? Looking to lateral as a 1Y VP to a larger fund (currently at $1B fund II)
Do you have geographical and industry preferences?
I'm based in NY (preferred), but willing to look in FL and CA too
I spent most of my time in industrials (manufacturing, services, distribution), healthcare, consumer
Got it. I’m in CA, would recommend LA over SF for obvious reasons, but also definitely more of your experienced industries and fund size here. Knew some people who’ve had good experiences with CarterPierce based here in LA for placement, but I think they’ve also expanded beyond west coast. Probably worth reaching out to them.
