Most senior level you've seen someone enter PE?
Without prior PE experience, what's the most senior you've seen someone join? Talking about mid and more senior levels not the obvious Kim K types.
Have you seen people come in as Senior Associates or VP or Principal based solely on strong banking and operating/sector expertise?
There was an MD from JPM M&A who left to be an MD at Bain Capital.
Otherwise only seen associates
Banking vp to MF principal
I've seen some MD to Partner jumps in the consumer PE universe.
I'm seen banking MD to partner, but largely on the BizDev side. Most senior bankers I've seen lateral to PE at senior levels is largely due to their relationships with companies and founders. They're able to help the PE shop source better/more opportunities
Seen a handful of MDs move over to the investment side at reputable firms, as well as Directors / SVPs joining as a VP or Principal.
Have not seem that many banking VPs move over.
I've seen partners in law firms make the jump to PE (usually the client of the partner). Sometimes to the legal department, but not necessarily.
MD at BB --> CFO of private co --> Partner at MF is what I have seen. Think it was basically a "this guy is awesome, let's get him in here and we'll figure it out from there" situation.
In Europe and UK just saw 1 join as MD and another as a director in my firm. Fund size ~5bn raising 9-12bn€ fund atm with good traction.
