Moving from Public Debt to Private Debt

Hi Monkeys,

I am looking for some advice around how to transition from public debt to private debt markets. There is ton of information about how to break into private equity but private debt seems to be a black box.

I am currently working at a large asset manager think Blackrock/PIMCO/Fidelity, and I sit in the product strategy team. Hence I have experience in designing structured credit products and also in selling it to the clients.

I want to understand if I can use the skills I have picked in the public markets and use them in the private markets. How does recruitment work for private debt markets, what skills are tested in interviews.
