Need advice | Banking recruitment in London with ~1 year of PE experience through internships
Hi guys,
I am currently completing my second long term
internship in PE in London (have in total more than 1 year of PE experience now through internships) and obviously the time has come for a full time role. My target is finally banking but talking to some of my friends at banks, seems like currently the market is awful and seems like banks are not hiring that much. I would appreciate any advice on how to finally find a job in banking (London specific) as I do think I have a strong profile (I have also done a top UK masters last year). Should I just wait a bit until the cycle starts and apply for full time banking roles in Sep/Oct? I can potentially delay my end day of the internship until August/September or probably even later, so it is not a problem. A problem is getting to the interview stage as not seeing many positions in the market (London IB).
Would appreciate any advice.
Thanks in advance!
Pan European Monkey I would greatly appreciate your help.
Anyone…?

Tldr?
Pretty much all the hiring at this level in london goes through recruitment firms. Reach out to the top5 HH. They’ll wanna interview you and then they’ll get you on their books and start introducing you to positions.
I’m not in IB but most of my friends are and from what I can tell there is definitely still hiring going on.
I assume you’ll want questions on the best HH firms. There are dedicated posts on this forum in regard to london based HH. I use KAI, PER and Dartmouth but that’s for PE.
Everyone hates Selby Jennings (cos they’re shit) but they do get a lot of ib roles. I’d start with them and Dartmouth. Dartmouth are super good
Dartmouth is a joke...
What makes you say that? Genuine question had a super positive experience with them.
Super disorganised and unresponsive, the headhunters have very little clue about the industry and the roles they recruit for. They're so bad there's an entire thread about how incompetent they are
