Need for an MBA in Europe?
In the US, after following the standard 2 years IB -> 2 years PE Associate, people need to leave for an MBA before they can come back to PE and continue advancing. HOWEVER, it has been implied/said in this forum that things may be different in London. Is an MBA necessary in London? Can you continue advancing and being on partner track without taking an "MBA break from PE"?
Hey guacamoil, sorry about the delay, but are any of these useful:
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
Have a look at the team pages of different PEs. To my knowledge most PE guys with banking background don't have MBA. Consultants got the MBA while working at MBB and then switched.
I'd say not necessary at all, unless switching career. I don't think I know anyone that did an MBA after IBD. I know some MBB guys that did a US-based MBA to switch to PE.
Most continental Europe people however will have a MSc / MiM completed just after the Bachelor (i.e. 3 + 2 years of Uni before working). This is also not necessary, but very frequent.
Also, PE recruitment usually takes place slightly later in Europe (AN 3 / AS 1-2).
