Need to rant
Holy fuck. I need to rant before I punch a wall.
I can't even go to the doctors without my boss asking me invasive questions like; are you ok? Are there any health issues i should know about that will effect your ability to work? Are you really going to the doctors?Like dude, I am a human being.I need to have my teeth cleaned, I need to have my blood work taken twice a year - heart attacks run in my family, I need to visit the dermatologist.
Is this so hard to understand and respect? On work from home days, they randomly test to see how long we were signed in for.
Also, when I take personal calls from the office, I can tell people are literally trying to listen to what they can.
The lack of privacy is driving me mad.
dude I totally feel you
my team got annoyed that I had to leave early to wash clothes because the laundromat near my place closes at 10PM. I literally had to say "this is my last clean shirt".
Drives me mad bro. I’m in PE now and it’s the same. Wondering if other people have this experience.
every normal business closes at 6PM so it just builds for the weekend and then your weekend is just running around doing monkey errands
Agreed, I hate having to explain to people why I need to leave the office at 6pm even though I'll be back online by 9pm
Literally driving me mad. Happens every time. Additionally, we have a standing meeting at 8:45 every morning which makes it almost impossible to do errands without needing to leave work…. Feel like I am trapped Monday - Friday. Horrible feeling.
Does this just come with the territory?
Meeting every morning with your team seems excessive. Has that much transpired since the prior day where everyone needs to be updated?
The US needs more workplace laws and regulations to avoid this type of abuse. Like in Germany where your boss can't contact you after a certain time.
Have heard some truly vicious things about Frankfurt IB culture, hours etc so I'm guessing those rules don't apply to IB/PE
The more Gen Zs that come in and complain about the culture in finance, or find other fields to work in, the better... only way to change these things
I don't work in PE but curious to hear if this type of environment is common. Having to tip toe around your boss to get out of the office to go see a doctor is completely insane to me.
Curious what type of fund is this? Does your WLB get better at MM / LMM compared with MF / UMM?
when it comes to health that’s fair. But a lot of the associates log out at 6 to hit the gym then log back in at 8 and say so what I’m doing the work right? Yea bro I then need to review at 10 once you send and log out and go to sleep. Used to be that people operated to provide leverage not just do whatever they wanted
What kind of firm is this… And how do they retain people?! Absurd and most of all shortsighted to treat staff this way.
