Networking and Relationship in PE

It's clear why networks and relationships help in IB because the goal is to bring in deals. Where does it come into play for private equity other than fundraising?

It's not like you're going to invest in companies where you know the CEO because it's a misalignment of goals - you want returns they want ur money. I can see how it would help during the auction process but would appreciate it if anyone can add some color!
