Networking for Tech PE / GE?

Currently an undergrad with a top tech IB group offer in hand. I’m really interested in exploring opportunities in buyout PE and GE within the tech space. I know haven’t even started working FT in banking yet, but with how accelerated PE recruiting has become, I feel as though I need to do something to prepare myself if I do decide to pursue PE. With that said, is it worth attempting to reach out and network with associates in these fields? What sort of things should I be doing to best prepare myself to be a stellar IB analyst and set myself up for good staffing as a FT hire that will hopefully lead to better chances of landing at a good PE fund?

Again, I know it’s very early on but I’m just curious to hear from those that have made the jump.
