Networking with Megafund MD/Partner

I'm working at a BB/Elite boutique next year in IB. During the banking recruiting process, I got in touch with an alum who is a MD/Partner at one of the top-top megafunds. This person liked me a lot after meeting me and personally reached out to his contacts at different banks to try to get me interviews. I got a few interviews at BB/elite boutiques through this person although I didn't get my upcoming job through him. The guy is an absolute boss and gave me advice on choosing offers, etc. Whenever I interviewed anywhere, he volunteered to put in a good word, since he knows people at like every bank.

This person has been really helpful through the banking process but I'm not sure how out of the ordinary an interaction like this is, especially since this just came out of normal networking, not through a family connect or anything. I want to reach out again for PE recruiting because it would be a dream to work at his firm. Based on the info I've given, would I have a shot at getting an interview at this person's firm through this guy's recommendation if I played my cards right? My firm/group is fairly good but it doesn't regularly place into megafunds of that caliber like a GS TMT or MS M&A would.

I don't want to be annoying but I want to keep in touch with him. How should I continue networking with this guy as an analyst? I know the process for banking but I want to make sure I'm approaching this the right way because I don't wanna mess things up.
