Novacap has bad reputation?
When we talk about Canadian MM PE shops, we always talk about Birch Hill, Clairvest, Torquest, Imperial, etc. I rarely see Novacap's name get mentioned although they have $9 billion AUM. Just wondering why Novacap's reputation is not up to other MM PE firms.
Probably due to them being largely based out of Montreal, which can often come with a requirement to be able to speak French fluently.
I also don't think them not being talked about really reflects a poor reputation, just less visibility due to not being in Toronto.
Heard comp is significantly under (for interns at the very minimum).

The deal flow is great and the returns in their most recent funds have been very good from what I heard. However, they have a notoriously toxic culture, but this might have been improved over the past years.

Culture and pay sound bad. They also seem to string interns along and not give return offers - I constantly see recruiting inbounds from folks with absurdly long tenures as interns
