Oaktree London

Hey everyone - was looking for some insights into Oaktree European Principal Fund in London. Is that the same as the Opportunistic Fund (15bn)? If not, do they still invest in PE and distress-to-own? What’s the comps like (incl carry structure)? Other?

thx a lot

It’s actually not that good a strategy weirdly given how great the platform is. The fee structure is unusual, tilted more towards AuM than performance. Off the top of my head I can think of two investments where they should have sold but didn’t and one where they overpaid but probably didn’t care as it helped them deploy AuM. Last raise was only about $500m and came from five investors.
