PE Analyst Secondaries -> Direct Investing PE Associate

Hey everyone,

Wanted to get opinions on moving from PE secondaries to direct investing. I am interviewing for a 2 year role for a PE analyst for MM secondaries market at a well-known brand. I was wondering coming out of this, will I be able to recruit for direct investing PE associate roles with adequate networking/through headhunters?

The firm says people coming out of the 2 year program are either directly promoted to associate, go to top business schools, or go to direct investing firms. I just wanted to get thoughts from people on this forum if they know of people moving from secondaries to direct. I tried doing LinkedIn stalking to see if people did in fact make the transition but had a hard time trying to track people in general that were in this role before.

Any advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Is it possible? Sure. Have seen people from Secondaries funds do so, especially from the big players (Coller, Lexington, etc). Seems like a very good time to get into Secondaries though. Have friends in the industry who are really enjoying it. Great pay, decent hours, increasingly interesting deals - have been lots of innovation in this market in recent times.
