PE Career Advice

Long story short, I joined a LATAM LMM PE firm (AuM $2bn) as an associate 2 years ago as a Master of Finance graduate from a UK target school with no background. While I have gained a lot of experience managing the portfolio companies and the fund's pipeline, LATAM market is very limited (20 NBO, 5 BO, no deals closed yet). Lately I've been strongly considering a lateral move to another country to hopefuly work on larger and more complex deals. What are my realistic career projections if I'd like to go to work in the US. Will I need to do MBA->IB Elite Boutique/MBB->UMM/Mega Fund PE or is a lateral move feasible?
