To give an actual answer, it is really a thing where certain firms have a very strong political slant (even at bigger firms). Not sure it really matters as an associate but if you’re in it for the long game you want to be somewhere you align with the people.

Political donations are disclosed so you can Google around and find decent detail. If a bunch of MDs are donating $100k+ to Trump or Biden, you can probably figure out it out. You’ll sometimes see firms donate directly to candidates as well
