PE with a 2:1, is it possible?
I was just looking around profile of some individuals working at top PE shops in London and I could not find many with a 2:1 score in their undergrad and those who had 2:1 ended up doing masters afterwards.
I have received a full time offer for IB with a US BB (BofA/Citi) and I am predicted to achieve 2:1 unless something magical happens in my final year. So I just wanted to ask does degree score matter a lot if you are looking to make a move to PE after 2 years of IB stint?
No, lol, 2.1 doesn't matter at all, espc if you went to a top target.
Source: Got a 2.1 (caveat that I went to a top target) and went to a MF PE Analyst program after graduation. Know a handful of other people w/ 2.1s either in PE or who get regularly pinged for interviews by HHs
Go chill out, get a 2.1, enjoy your final year of uni before you start grinding is my advice
No one cares about it in UK recruitment.
Citi/BoFA are considered mid tier BBs so focus/network to get into a strong team to have the best chance of getting into MF PE down the line.
Nobody cared about my 2:1 in my career. 1 extra internship mattered to people more.
Irrelevant
Thank you for all the advice and thoughts!
Even 2.2 would be perfectly fine. Was honest about it with BB banks, MBBs and MM + MF PE funds and progressed at all of them after the screening round, 2.1 is more than enough if from a top uni
