Point72 or BX RE?
My main interest is to go into PE. Between internships at point72 or blackstone real estate, what is the better offer? Not sure how easy it is to switch into PE after these roles or if I should just stay at either place. Thank you!
I think unless you want to do real estate PE, you should keep recruiting and go to an IB? The path from Point72 is not straightforward and real estate pigeonholes you into that space
This guys is retarded, you’ll be fine with either. Nobody cares what your internships are, they just want to know you’re smart. Both of those opportunities demonstrate you are smart so you can go with either.
^This. You have to realize these are firms and groups that are at the top of their respective games and will get you looks. I'm assuming you're finishing up sophomore year and have these offers secured for NEXT summer. What does this mean? You have TWO years to network and get into corporate PE if that is your ultimate goal. Having BX or P72 doesn't hurt at all, especially for an internship. If I were you, I would think what would interest me the most for a summer experience (as asrtsy as that sounds). Both will be good experiences, both will pay good for summer, and you will have fellow interns to chill with too.
There are people who have done zero internships, no connections (maybe just an undergrad and Msc finance) and got into high finance. You can't go wrong with your situation. Congrats on the offers. Breathe and have longer-term perspective.
