Portfolio company referral in private equity

My background :

I am a fresher Chartered Accountant from India with 3 years of articleship(internship) experience in auditing.

Question :

How effective will referrals from the following people be in getting a job at a private equity (middle market) firm in India ? a)Managing Director/CEO of a portfolio company(the fund is still invested in the company) b)Managing Director/CEO of a portfolio company from which the fund has exited

To be more specific, what are my chances of getting:

1)an interview call and

2)a job(assuming I land an interview) if my performance in the interview is a)good b)average c)poor
