Problem solving in private equity
I think I would enjoy finance (I love studying it, thinking about the value of companies, working with excel, etc.), but my biggest strength and my favorite "work" is problem solving. At first I was really interested in consulting because it seems like it would let me get paid for solving business problems, but the more I study finance the more I want to be able to include finance in my life as well.
To any private equity professionals out there, would you say that private equity is a field in which problem solving skills are necessary and highly useful?
Haha, what do you think pe is? Manual labor? This is a retarded question, go read an article on wiki or something about the fundamental precepts of pe .
Unless you're a big dog, an analyst in PE is pretty much the industry's equivalent of "manual labor." Problem solving and creativity are reserved for higher-ups.
Check out McKinsey Corp finance or Bain private equity consulting. I'm sure they're tough as hell to get in but they can provide a good combo of that
