Why is everyone on this forum paranoid that one move, in what is likely to be a long career, has destined them for failure?

To answer your question……yes, if you continue on with this mindset. If you take ownership & craft your story, then no.

Young people too wrapped up in "the path" and having an unblemished history to realize just how much leeway there is for fucking up in your early-to-mid 20s when you look at it in terms of a whole career.

It's good to hear this. Thank you. I've been so obsessed with having a "spotless" resume, I can't tell you the number of potentially good opportunities I've turned down because I've worried what it would look like if they didn't work out.

How long has it been since you quit your last job? Have they already filled the opening? Maybe you could reach out to see if they'd take you back. I myself made a mistake going to a startup that I was finessed into as well. After 3 months I went back to my old employer and just took the startup off my resume. The hardest part is having to eat some humble pie and admitting to your last employer you made a mistake in leaving.
