Received offer - looking for info
Hi all,
Thanks in large part to this website, I recently received an offer from a junior capital fund (noncontrolling equity and mezz). I was hoping to get some insight from some of you PE guys regarding these types of funds:
- What are some of the similarities / differences in the analysis of potential investments when you're putting in junior capital compared to taking a controlling interest and leading a buyout?
I read on another thread that the capital structure would be in place, and there would be differences if investing mezz as opposed to equity, but if anyone can give more detail, that would be really helpful.
- What are some potential exit opportunities for these funds, specifically to pure-play MM PE or IB? I've been working for a year and a half in an unrelated field, and I would like to get an idea of what my options might be after a couple of years. Is it plausible to make a move to a more traditional PE fund in a pre-MBA role?
This is a smaller, regional fund, and part of the reason I'm interested in the exit opps is that I would like to eventually get an MBA and move to a city with a larger finance presence.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
