Depends. As a freshman/sophomore summer internship, yes it can be very helpful. The actual experience varies from fund to fund, so you should have a clear understanding of what your responsibilities will be. You don't want to do 100% sourcing (basically google).

It can be awesome experience and you get to write "Private Equity Summer Analyst" on your resume but your experience will vary HEAVILY from place to place. I've heard of some people just doing sourcing calls and others having a much more wholesome experience with either and ongoing transaction or a more operating perspective. Remember to keep these factors in mind
