Should I be open with fund

It’s almost final review time and I work for an UMM fund in Chicago. Every year they ask everyone what they want to do next and frankly I think I want to lateral to a NYC fund after my 2 years because Chicago isn’t working out and girlfriend lives there. Should I lie and say o want to stay on as a VP and lateral recruit in the background or be honest and hope they help me move?
