Silver Lake NY vs Menlo Park offices

Rising sophomore at a SLP target school interested in recruiting for their summer analyst role this spring. Part of the recruiting process is declaring your interest in either their NYC or Menlo Park office. The few threads I've seen on this topic don't have much info and the gist of what's been said is that Menlo is where the action is in terms of guiding the firm's direction which I suppose makes sense given their exclusive focus on tech. I'm wondering if anyone can provide more color about what the New York office is like in terms of culture and the degree to which it's looped in on deliberations going on in Menlo versus doing its own thing entirely or just playing a supporting operational role for the Menlo guys.
