Stuck like this?
Hey Y’all. Ignore the job title because I’m too lazy to update it.
Entering the last twelve months of my PE career, haven’t been asked to leave yet, but I’m planning on exiting after my next bonus. I just can’t let this be my life anymore. Not trying to pound my chest or share war stories, but it’s been a slog as people can imagine.
To anyone who destroyed their body in PE, after destroying it in IB, is it possible to get it back? Did anyone else find friends, stop looking 5 years older than they are, and get all the other balls back in the air? My mental health is OK but I look fat and tired and I want to change that. The jobs I’m chasing will have less hours than I’m currently working, but I’m worried that in my late 20s I’ve already wasted my golden years.
I don’t need to be the athlete I was in college, but I want my life after deal finance to include tighter friendships (excluding those formed at the office at 1:00 AM), more time spent exercising/cooking/reading, and finding someone I want to spend my life with. I feel like after 5 years since I graduated I’m behind the 8 ball on all the things I want for my life because I focused too much on making money
Tell me I’m wrong fellas!
You certainly have the corporate idioms down
As you are, I was, and as I am, you will become. It slips out more than I want, will add to the list of things to fix once I’m out lmao.
After I left PE I toom on some independent consulting work and was on the road enough to lean out. Then I picked up gym again and now I’m in the best shape of my life. Was quick enough to get back into a rhythm. I focused on strength training and low impact sports.
Yes. It’s possible. When you know what bad is like you value your time and fitness more (consider for instance how much time you wasted in college). Just realize you’re older so emphasis on avoiding injury
You’ll be amazed what a few months removed from the toll of finance will do for your body - in a positive way.
Particularly if you’re intentional about fitness and nutrition.
Also make a concerted effort to reconnect with friends you lost track of - amazing for your mental health.
Get a lifting program and follow it, you’ll be looking good in a few months. You sound like you care about looks right now most so lifting is going to do more good for you then running. Body fat vs muscle is what is important. Do some light cardio on your off days for heart health. Track your diet and hit a target calorie number by eating clean. Not too late by any stretch of imagination. If you want it you can crush gym now. Good luck.
Forgot to add - I like the lifting programs from mind pump. They are excellent.
