Systematic Prep for Interviews
Hey everyone - currently a 2nd/3rd year post-MBA VP, in the beginning stages of a lateral search (headhunter calls, etc.). Not the best market, but current seat isn't right for the long-term so we'll see where it goes.
My question to the forum - does anyone have a systematic approach to prepping for interviews that they wouldn't mind sharing? Ideally specific to the VP/mid-level interview process, but any and all thoughts are welcome. Relevant topics include fit/behavioral, technicals (light refresh always helpful), researching the specific firm ahead of interviews/networking, etc.
Just brainstorming here, but "systematic" could be any combo of: Notion template for firm/fund research (just fill in the blank w/ info/recent deals, etc.), flashcards, reading recent posts that have been helpful, prepping document... anything like that.
Was thinking ahead recently and realized that it's been a bit since I prepped in any structured way. Did so for post-IB/pre-MBA associate roles, but on reflection I mostly did what I saw other analysts in my class doing (good barometer) and that process is more straightforward. I landed my role coming out of business school through combination of luck + minimal prep + ability to think on my feet. I'm not putting too much pressure on myself, but it'd be great to have absolute confidence walking into these interviews/conversations during this process (my way is more stressful, hit or miss in terms of outcome as well).
